Spring Cleaning Your Email Marketing To Enhance Results
Winter has come and gone and now is the time to clean out cupboards and wipe away any gathered dust. The same applies to your Email Marketing campaigns.  It is time to spring clean your email marketing lists, re-evaluate your goals and improve your email marketing strategy.

Email Marketing is extremely powerful. It allows you to send targeted communication, build relationships with clients and drive sales.  It is therefore a good idea to clean and plan the way forward at least twice per year. Re-evaluating your course will ensure that you are constantly on the right path and it will also allow you to make best use of email.

Spring clean your mailing lists

Go through your lists and remove any in-active addresses or addresses that continue to bounce. These email addresses affect  your opening rates  and prevent you from tracking your results effectively.

Also take the time to go through lists and ensure that they are targeted enough. If some of your products are specifically targeted at men, women or a definite age group, it could be well worth your while to separate your addresses into Age, Male, Female etc.

Re-evaluate your goals

Ask yourself the following three important questions:
•    What did you want to achieve with email marketing?
•    Did you manage to achieve this goal?
•    How are your click-through and open rates looking?

If your answers to the above mentioned questions are positive you are doing something right and should build on that. If not, you must improve your strategy.

Improve your strategy

Here are a few pointers to help you improve your current email marketing results:
•    Improve your content: Don’t just send marketing related emails to promote your products and specials. You must also give back to your readers. Give them free advice, free material or discounts now and again.
•  Don’t over communicate: Two emails per month are enough. They will remind readers of your products and services without overwhelming them.
•   Write good copy: Your written copy will affect opening rates. Good copy reflects that time has been put into compiling the email and with the right words people will feel interested to read your email.
•   Integrate other mediums: The great thing about email is that it works wonderfully with all other mediums. Try integrating it with social media or any other online marketing medium. For e.g. Use email to inform your readers about your new social media competition or your new website launch.

Good luck with the cleaning and re-strategising process of your email marketing. It may sound and feel tedious and time consuming but once implemented you will see improved results after the initial email.
